Building on previous studies on social media sites, researchers in the United Kingdom investigate the social and informational use of Facebook and Twitter and its association with Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness-to-Experience, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Sociability, and Need-for-Cognition. The study found that “a preference for Facebook or Twitter was associated with differences in personality.”
